NRC's Big Sleepover

Thousands of people become homeless each year throughout Melbourne and across Australia, many of whom are forced to sleep outdoors with minimal shelter. According to Homelessness Australia, approximately 23% of homeless people are under the age of 25; a shockingly large number of youth without stable housing, shelter and support. Just over half of people seeking homelessness services have issues such as financial hardship, or rental affordability.

So, what can we do about it?

This August, advisors and members from the Non-Residential Colleges will give up their beds for a night in order to experience homelessness first hand, sleeping on campus with only a sleeping bag, pillow and cardboard for shelter. Your funds will go along way to providing some dignity to those doing it tough.
